Yorick Joseph Marks passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at his residence at the age of 88.
Yorick left his mark on all those he came in contact with and was the life of the party. If he wasn’t cracking jokes or creating things to solve problems, he was working on word puzzles or watching western tv shows. Yorick was a proud veteran of the United States Army and often spoke of his time in Germany. Some of his favorite things to do were to go camping, fishing, and crabbing. However, what he loved the most was dancing with Elaine. Yorick will forever be remembered for playing harmonica for everyone’s birthday and for the love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yorick’s legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him and may his soul rest in peace.
Yorick leaves behind his son, Kurt Marks; his daughter, Sandra Marks Soileau (Kurt) and his sister-in-law, Lynn Hollier Marks. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Tabitha (Dwayne) Vincent of Broussard, Carmen (Joshua) Leger of Opelousas, Heidi (Daniel Jr.) Arnaud of Opelousas, Kelsi Soileau of Opelousas, Tyler Marks of Youngsville, and Broc Soileau of Opelousas and eleven great-grandchildren, Jolie’ Leger, Cole Vincent, Cree Leger, Dara Lynn Arnaud, Sydney Leger, Zacary Vincent, Rylee Vincent, Gregory Arnaud, Audie Leger, Benjamin Arnaud and Lucas Arnaud.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elaine Marks; his parents, Zachary and Felicia Douet Marks and his brothers, Ralph Marks and Lennie Marks.
