Opelousas- A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, for Willie "Wills" James Clavier, 67, of Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed from this life on September 10, 2016. A devout Christian, we rejoice that he now abides with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until time of services.
Wills was born on March 20, 1949, in Eunice, Louisiana to Leo and Nola Clavier.
He served his country honorably for four years in the United States Air Force, two of those years in Southeast Asia, during the Vietnam War.
Wills studied Pre-Pharmacy at U.L. of Lafayette and obtained his degree in Pharmacy at U.L. of Monroe. Although he obtained his degree in Monroe, he remained a die-hard Ragin Cajun fan and supporter.
Wills practiced as a Doctor of Pharmacy in Opelousas and Lafayette throughout his working career. His longest tenure being a pharmacist was with Eckerd Drug in La Promenade Mall in Lafayette. He retired from Teche Drugs in Lafayette in 2016.
He is survived by his brothers Leo Clavier (Bonnie) from Brandon, MS, Dale Clavier (Dee) from Baton Rouge, LA and Leonard Clavier (Eva) from Opelousas, LA; and his twin sisters, Eileen Hollingsworth (Tim) from Zachary, LA and Arleen Doucet (Kenneth) from Opelousas, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nola Dugas Clavier.
He was the principal organizer and first president of the Vietnam Veterans of American Association at the University of LA in Monroe. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a past member of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association and the American Pharmacist Association. He was an avid and longtime supporter of a pro-life charitable organization, A Pregnancy Center and Clinic of Acadiana.
In lieu of flowers, it is Wills' final request that donations be made in his memory to A Pregnancy Center and Clinic of Acadiana, 913 South College Rd., Suite 206, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to their brothers and sisters in Christ, Chris and Marla Andrus, Patrick Ozenne and Angelle Bacque. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana.
