William Hidalgo

Opelousas A Funeral Service will be held for William Gary Poppa Hidalgo, age 57, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the service.

Mr. Hidalgo, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Gary was a school teacher at several different St. Landry Parish schools during his career and was currently teaching at Opelousas Catholic School. He was an avid LSU Tiger Fan. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors are his wife of 33 years, Carol Leger Hidalgo his son, Colin Hidalgo and wife, Brooke Cormier Hidalgo his daughters, Jea Fisette Hundley and husband, Barry Lainey Hidalgo Hosen and husband, Michael and an adopted son, Brandon Hidalgo his brothers, Tommy, Bubba, Byron and Ludrick Hidalgo and his sisters, Ruth Hidalgo and Teeny Hood. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Caleb, Caitlyn, Mason, Kennedy, Dylan, Maddi, Colt Brady and Karlee Belle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Ola Hidalgo and his brother, Gene Hidalgo.

Visiting will begin at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary donations be made to defer medical and funeral expenses.
