William Fontenot

Grand Prairie A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for William Billie K. Fontenot, Sr. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014, in the St. Peters Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, La. Monsignor Louis Melancon and Father Randy Moreau will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery.

Mr. Fontenot, age 82, a resident of Grand Prairie, died on Monday, February 10, 2014, at 9:27 p.m., at his residence.

Billie retired after working nearly 60 years for the Soil and Water Conservation Service becoming an expert in that profession. He made many, many friends and enjoyed speaking his native Cajun French. Billie will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Jane Fontenot his two sons, Bill Fontenot and wife, Patsy Keith Fontenot and wife, Beth his three daughters, Peggy Richard and husband, Mark Patricia Fontenot Monica Vidrine and husband, Jamie his soninlaw, Gene Fontenot and his brother Earl Fontenot, Jr. and wife, Earline all of Grand Prairie, La. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Mia Hundley, Jared Fontenot, Lori Trahan, Ashley Latiolais, Sarah Fontenot, Andrew Fontenot, Eric Fontenot, Jennifer Latiolais, Michelle McCauley, Amanda Fontenot, Aaron Fontenot, Matthew Richard, Jordan Vidrine and Benjamin Vidrine and eight greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Earl Fontenot, Sr. one sister, Jackie Fontenot one brother, Flournoy Fontenot two infant siblings and one daughter, Debia Fontenot.

Visiting will begin at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Billie Fontenot will be escorted to his final resting place by his grandsons that will be pallbearers.
