Wilfred Smith

Opelousas Funeral services for Wilfred Smith will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2012 at 10:00 am in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. The interment will take place at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the services.

Mr. Smith, age 91, a resident of Broussard, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 5:20 am at the AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. He was a retired supervisor from Lafayette Parish. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Guidry Smith of Broussard, son, Stephen W. Wilson, Sr. and wife Beverly of Lafayette, nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Cindy Landry and her daughter Samantha Moore, Kennon Wilson, Kenneth Landry, Jr. and his daughter Autumn Landry, Joe and Karlee Roy and their children Victoria, Hunter, Andre, Stephanie and Andre Pretorius and Stephen Wilson, Jr. and Christina Wilson. Friends, Jim and Gwen Burk, Howard and Elsie Guidry, Brad and Jeanette Millon, Joanette Dugas, Kathy Patin and Jim and Betty Trahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gill and Philomane Guidry Smith, brother, Paul Lennis Smith, sisters, Maisy Trahan, Etta Mernard and Theresa Ann Smith.

The family has requested visitation be held on Tuesday September 18, 2012 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Landry, Jr., Stephen Wilson, Sr., Steve Wilson, Jr., Kennon Wilson, Jim Burke and Andre Pretorius.
