Wilbert Guidry

OPELOUSAS A Mass of Christian Burial for Wilbert Joseph Guidry will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Guidry, age 74, a resident of Opelousas, La. died on Friday, July 29, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.

Wilbert was an inventor, hunter and avid fisherman. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, Keith Joseph Guidry and his wife, Lisa, of Lafayette, La. his sister, Georgie Guidry Deville and her husband, Dillard Butch, of Grand Prairie, La. his nephews, Renwick Deville Godson and his wife, Lauren, of Baton Rouge, La. Duncan Deville of Alexandria, Virginia Dr. Phil Deville and his wife, Denise, of Abbeville, La. and his niece, Marsha Deville Pope and her husband, Mark, of Lafayette, La. He is also survived by 3 greatnephews, Matthew, Stephen and Jacob and 1 greatniece, Danielle.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Emily Lafleur Guidry his infant son, Kyle Joseph Guidry and his parents, Valentine and Eunice Dalfrey Guidry.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Sunday, July 31, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, August 1, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. until service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
