Wilbert Ray Comeaux, Sr.

Melville-Funeral Services for Mr. Wilbert Ray Comeaux, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville. Rev. Russell Comeaux will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Baptist Cemetery in Melville.

Wilbert Comeaux, age 76, was born in Arnaudville, LA, and was a resident of Melville. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Christian who passed from this life into the next on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas.

He was a carpenter by trade for many years.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter in his early adult years. He also spent most of his free time doing woodworking, building and refurbishing antiques, collecting antiques, going to auctions and flea markets, and tending to his antique booths.  He enjoyed spending time with the family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those left behind and enjoyed all those who have gone before.

He is survived by his three children: Marlena Triplette Latiolais, Wilbert Ray Comeaux, Jr. ("Ray") and wife, Sharon; and Wilmer Joseph Comeaux ("Joey") and wife, Sheri; nine grandchildren: April Dannielle Stelly, Gavin Michael Allen Triplette, Garret Ray Houston Triplette, Travis Gannfors, David Gannfors, Raymond Joseph Comeaux ("RJ"), Bradley Ella Comeaux, Britton Avery Comeaux, and Blakely Grey Comeaux; eleven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers: Melvin Comeaux and wife, Sybil; and Russell Comeaux and wife, Ginger; and his sisters, Judy McDaniel, Ella Rose Guillory, Carolyn Johnson, and Amy Chautin and husband, John.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janet Popps Comeaux; his parents, Wilmer Joseph Comeaux and Felicianne Kidder Comeaux; brother, Kevin Comeaux; three brothers-in-law, Daniel McDaniel, James Guillory, and Danny Johnson; and two sons-in-law, Mark Allen Triplette and Keith Latiolais.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville.
