Wesley Westerhaus

MelvilleA loving husband, father, and grandfather, Wesley Stone Westerhaus, age 80, passed away on Jan 20, 2011 at the Carpenter House of St Josephs Hospice in Baton Rouge. Known to his family and friends as Bo he was a lifelong resident of Melville, La. He was a member of the Melville Masonic Lodge, Melville United Methodist Church, and the National Rifle Association. After graduation from Melville High school he served in the U.S. Army then returned home and was employed by the Standard Oil Company in Sunset, La. He spent 22 years with the utilities dept of the Town of Melville and finished his career as a locksmith at the Riverbend Nuclear Plant in St. Francisville, La. He was an avid hunter and spent many enjoyable days outdoors with family and friends.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Jane Thomasson Westerhaus son Mark Westerhaus and his wife Sheree Caire Westerhaus of Baton Rouge daughter Jennifer Westerhaus Marks and husband David Marks of Frisco, Texas grandchildren Kaitlyn Westerhaus, Grant Westerhaus, Lane Westerhaus, Lauren Marks and Matthew Marks niece Nancy Richardson Hornsey and husband William Hornsey of Baton Rouge, brotherinlaw William Thomasson and wife Marlys of Melville, sisterinlaw Peggy Lafleur of Baton Rouge and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Westerhaus and Dorothy Rice Westerhaus and his sister Barbara Westerhaus.

Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. on Sat Jan. 22nd and from 2:00 p.m.3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23rd at the LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Melville with funeral services at 3 PM on Sun Jan 23rd at the Melville United Methodist Church. The Reverend Kenneth Chapman and Reverend Ken Carroll will conduct the funeral services. followed by interment in the Methodist Cemetery.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr Carl Luikart for his compassionate care and to the staff of the Carpenter House of St. Josephs Hospice for their help and support.
