Wanda Urbina

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Wanda Leotha MertellUrbina, age 50, the former Wanda Greenfield, who passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at her residence in Carencro. Interment will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La.

The Rev. Nick Peters, pastor of First Baptist Church of Carencro, will officiate at the services. Poems will be read by Kristyn Devillier, Jeffrey Turner, and Samantha Edwards. Music will be sung by Heaven Guillory.

Mrs. MertellUrbina was born January 16, 1960. She was a native of Missouri, but had lived in Louisiana for twentyeight years, having lived in Carencro for sixteen years. Wanda worked in the medical field as a Surgical Technologist for over twenty years, but had dedicated the last three years of her life working for Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency. Her interests were family gatherings and helping people. She loved music and singing to her kids and grandkids.

Survivors include, her husband, Alexis Urbina, of Carencro one daughter, Kathryn Guillory of Carencro two step daughters, Anthony Kaye Collins and her husband, Ricky, of Cecilia and Tina Mertell of Van Buren, MO her stepson, Frederick Thomas Mertell, III of St. Louis twenty one grandchildren, Jozlyn, Heaven, Kaden, Corry, Chrystal, Derick, Samantha, Trey, Dakota, Layla, Kayla, Devon, Cody, Cassina, Jeffrey, KateLynn, Kourtney, Tiffany, Hayleigh, Kenzie and Tommy one great grandson, LeLend her mother, Peggy Greenfield, of Carencro four sisters, Rhonda Lanclos and her husband, John, of Carencro Glenda Huval and her fianc, Gary Dance, of New Iberia Linda Grantham and her husband, Art, of Kingston, AR and Brenda Guidry and her husband, Fred, of Sunset two brothers, James Greenfield and his wife, Lora, of Springfield, MO and Eddie Greenfield of Berryville, AR and seven godchildren, James Leroy Edwards, Jr. of Cecilia, Kristyn Devillier of Carencro, Lance Huval of New Iberia, Christopher and Cardel Parke of Sunset, and Patrick and Shawn Hepler of Berryville, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Thomas Mertell, Jr. her daughter, Kristyna Greenfield and her granddaughter, Trinity Edwards.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
