Opelousas, LA - Funeral services will be held for Wanda L. Hidalgo at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Parlor. The Most Reverend J. Douglas Deshotel, Auxiliary Bishop of Dallas, Texas, will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hidalgo, age 78, a native of Prairie Ronde, LA and resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Monday, March 9, 2015, at her residence.
Wanda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Charles and wife, Sandy "Bo" Hidalgo of Broussard, LA and their children, Troy and Dana Miller and their children, Tate and Grant; Brandi Hidalgo Arabie and her daughter, Brianna; Kent Hidalgo (deceased), children, Pat Hidalgo, Robert Hidalgo and his daughter, Aubrey; Quinton Hidalgo and fiancé, Sheila Nezat, of Opelousas, LA and his children, Cassidy and Robert Paul; Tim and Rachael Hidalgo of Opelousas, LA and their children, Sam, Ike, Jolie and Cicily; her daughters, Gwen and husband, Rod Boudreaux of Plano, TX and their children, Alana and Jason Pitzer and their children, Elizabeth, Jordan and Stephanie; Kyle and Maribel Boudreaux and their children, Alexander, Ethan, Isabel and Lily; Miranda Hidalgo-Quebedeaux of Opelousas, LA; her brother, Glen Leger and wife, Lillian, of Opelousas, LA; her sister and Godchild, Myrna Martin and husband, Terry, of Baton Rouge, LA; her sisters-in-law, Barbara H. Gautreaux of Breaux Bridge, LA, Catherine H. Courville, of Beggs, LA and her Godchildren, Cindy L. Prather, Dale Gautreaux and Ardel Courville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert J. Hidalgo, Jr.; her son, Kent Hidalgo; her parents, Camille and Mable Dupre Leger; her son-in-law, Kevin Paul Quebedeaux; her great-grandson, Bret Legnon and her in-laws, Robert Hidalgo, Sr. and Estelle L. Hidalgo.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. (open all night) until time of service on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday by Deacon Tom Lindsey.
