Wanda Brown

Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial for Wanda Hidalgo Brown will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Reverend Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Due to remodeling at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas , visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas (2309 George Drive, Opelousas, LA 70570) on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Sibille Funeral Home will reopen on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 am.

Pallbearers will be Roger Brown, David Brown, Steven Brown, Eugene Thibodeaux, II, Nick Brown and Brandon Vice.

It is with deep sorrow we regretfully announce the passing of Wanda Hidalgo Brown on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the age of 88, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

Wanda enjoyed being outdoors tending to her garden and watching soap operas.  She kept her home very tidy and her floors so clean that you could eat off them.  She loved her children and her grandchildren, who meant the world to her.  She was a kind and loving person and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by sons, Roger Brown and wife, Debra, David Brown and Steven Brown and her daughter, Brenda Brown Smith and husband, Jimmy; her sisters, Lorraine Soileau, Elsie Soileau and Betty Deville.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hannah Brown, Nickie Vice and husband, Brandon, Christina Brown and companion, Nick, Eugene Thibodeaux, II, Brittany Frey Abshire and husband, Bobby and her great-grandchildren, Justin Daigle, Kristen Daigle, Katelyn Thibodeaux, Chelsie Thibodeaux, Luke Abshire, Sarah Vice, Haley Darbonne, Luke Darbonne and her step-great-grandchild, Ian Abshire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Brown; her parents, Albert and Eve Hidalgo; her sister, Nelma Fontenot; her brothers, Albert Hidalgo, Jr., Ronald Hidalgo and Joe Hidalgo; her grandson, Stacey Thibodeaux and her great-grandchild, Etley.
