Funeral services for Virgil Floyd Martin, age 51, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home in Melville, LA. Interment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Melville. The Reverend Sam Hamm will conduct the funeral service.
Virgil Floyd Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Melville. He died on Friday, October 4, 2013 at a Lafayette hospital.
Virgil loved music, fishing, a good meal and life in general. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his parents, Charles and Ada Kibedeaux Martin son, Jeremy Martin daughter, Elizabeth Martin, all of Melville. Sisters, Debra Hebert and husband Dale of Port Allen, Darlene Williams and husband Kevin of Livonia and Sheila Martin of Melville numerous nieces and nephews and Virgils special friend, Dixie Crumpton of Krotz Springs.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Ray.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hebert, Kevin Williams, Caleb Williams, Doug Martin, John Jules Robin, and Brian Disotell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Ganson, William Ray Arville, Ronnie Arville, Michael Brown, Kurt Cashio, Roland Naquin and Deantonio Williams.
Visiting will begin at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Melville on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 4:00 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
The Martin family would like to thank Dr. Frederick Rodasta, Dr. Daniel Frey, Dr. Raphael Higginbotham, Dr. Paul Miller and the staff of Miller Dialysis Center for the care that Virgil received during his illness.
