Versie Vigie, Sr.

Opelousas-Funeral services for Versie Joseph Vigie, age 92, will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home , followed by interment in the St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Palmetto, LA.
The Reverend James B. Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mr. Vigie, who was a native of Prairie Ronde and resident of Palmetto, died at 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Tri-Community Nursing Home in Palmetto, LA.

He was a retired supervisor at the Peoples Moss Gin in Palmetto, LA.

Mr. Vigie is survived by two sons, Versie J. Vigie, Jr. of Fort Mohave, Az. and Gerald Vigie of McColl, Miss; a brother, L.G. Vigie of Huttington Beach, Cal; four sisters, Essie Mouille of Palmetto, LA, Hazel Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, Annie Mae Phillips of Groves, TX and Rita Bell Meyers of Gulfport, Miss; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lena Politto Vigie; parents Elise and Artille Dupre Vigie; a brother, Talbert Vigie and two sisters, Beulah Pollotozzoa and Mabel Signibene and a granddaughter, Brandy Vigie.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. A rosary will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
