Versie Richard

Opelousas - Funeral services for Versie B. Richard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will conduct the service.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Versie B. Richard, age 93, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

Versie retired after a long career at St. Landry Bank.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed reading, bird watching (especially hummingbirds) and cheering for LSU and the New Orleans Saints.  Versie's joy was her family and friends.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by son, David W. Richard and wife, Rhonda; her daughter, Cheryl Richard Schlomer and her grandchildren, Brandi R. Marks and Aaron D. Richard (Aric).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Joseph Richard; her parents, Alex Beaumery and Idea Arceneaux Beaumery; her sister, Elsie B. Guillory; her son-in-law, Clarence Edward Schlomer; her grandson-in-law, Brad J. Marks and her nephews, Ray E. Guillory, Jr. and Craig S. Guillory.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Richard, Aric Meyer, Al Richard, James Kenneth Reed, Charles A. Richard, Jr. and Richard "Dickie" Reed.  Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Fadaol, Robert Reed, Ronald S. Richard and Steve Richard.
