Verna Burleigh

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Verna W. Burleigh on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 1:00 PM at St. Landry Catholic Church followed by the Rite of Committal in the church cemetery. The Reverend James Brady will Celebrate the Mass.

Verna W. Burleigh, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at home. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Altar Society. She was a teacher at Little Flower School in Arnaudville, LA as well as a realtor. Verna was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to South Florida where she would attend the theater with her beloved brother.

Survivors are her children Barbara Bihm of Opelousas, LA Patricia Jenkins of Baton Rouge, LA Raymond Sonny Burleigh and his wife, Evelyn, of Opelousas, LA Sandra Castille of Lafayette, LA and Michael Burleigh and his wife, Donna, of Opelousas, LA and her uncle, Arthur P. Red Junior Collins, Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Burleigh her parents, Simon Wyble and Ella Collins Wyble of Opelousas, LA her sister, Gladys Wyble Diebold, her husband Vernon, her nephew, Wayne Diebold and Joseph N. Wyble, her brother.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
