Verlie Terracina

Funeral services will be held for Verlie Terracina, the former Verlie Smith, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas, LA. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate the services. Readers will be Lisa B. Ortego and Carla R. Watkins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Terracina, age 93, who was a native of Ville Platte, LA and a lifelong resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System.

Verlie was strong in her Catholic faith. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She was renowned by her family and friends who were the recipients of her wonderful cooking. Verlie will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, John Billeaudeau and wife, Mary Alice, of Opelousas, LA; Kent Terracina and wife, Denise, of Port Barre, LA; Luke Terracina of Opelousas, LA; Sam Terracina of Opelousas, LA; her daughters, Maureen T. Richard and husband, Terry, of Lake Charles, LA; Melinda Terracina of Opelousas, LA; Janice T. Marks and husband, Jean, of Opelousas, LA; her sister, Nell S. Rozas of Ville Platte, LA; her step-son, Anthony Terrancina, Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Port Arthur, TX; her step-daughters, Alice T. Broussard of Port Arthur and Marie T. Brantton of Spurger, TX. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Lisa B. Ortego and husband, Craig; John Keith Billeaudeau and wife, Natasha; Courtney B. Lavergne and husband, Adam; Carla R. Watkins and husband, Mark; Jody Richard and wife, Kim; Ray Dupre', II and wife, Nichole; Ross Dupre' and wife, Amanda; Stacy M. Wimberly and husband, Mitch; Tracy Marks; Jamie Terracina; Ashley Gianfala and husband, Chachi; Danielle Mire; Cody Mire and 6 step-great-grandchildren, Beverly Terracina McGee, Betty Terracina Nectoux, Troy Broussard, Art Lynn, Greg Lynn, Carol Lynn Matthews and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Johnnie Billeaudeau and Tony Terracina; her parents, Cyrick Smith and Avelia Fontenot Smith; her sister, Ludy S. Rozas; her great-granddaughter, Hollie Ann Ortego and step-grandchildren, Patsy Romero Balderas and Tony Terracina, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Ray Dupre', II, Ross Dupre, Cody Muir, Chris Ortego, Tracy Marks and Luke Terracina. Honorary pallbearers will be John Billeaudeau, Jamie Terracina, Jody Richard, Sammy Terracina, Kent Terracina and Johnnie Billeaudeau.
