Vera Snyder

Krotz Springs - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 for Vera Mae Frederick Snyder at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Reverend Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Anthony Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.

Mrs. Snyder, age 80, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Vera was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she attended church regularly. She loved attending pageants, going to concerts, traveling, running the roads and listening to old country music. Vera enjoyed cooking for her neighbors and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family says she was the "Best Roast Cook Ever!".

She is survived by her sons, Erns John Snyder, Jr. (Junior Snyder) and wife, Kathy of Opelousas; Carroll Blake Snyder and Holly of Krotz Springs; her daughters, Janie Marie Snyder Carriere and husband, Gary of Arnaudville; Rhonda Snyder Guidry and husband, Craig of Opelousas; Linda Snyder Lejeune and husband, Johnny of Livonia; Crystal Snyder Carriere and husband, Lance of Opelousas and her nephew, Butch Wissel. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John, Tyler, Katie, Courtney, Erin, Carter, Deven, Colby, Victoria, Brenna, Jenna, E.J., Shelby, Trace, Halie, Brooke, Hunter, Amielle, Jules Mae, Mary Angela.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jack, Drew, Samuel, Pierce, Bentley, Connor, Sydni, Juliet, Atalie, Demi Rose, Annalyce, Tucker, Ethan, Annsley, Ella Rose, Rylee and Adalynn. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by the love her of her life, her husband, Erns John Snyder, Sr. (they will be reunited forever); her parents, Dudley Frederick and Lenora Laviolette; her brothers, Calton LeBlanc, Alley LeBlanc, Carrol Frederick; her sisters, Vernice Wissell, Marjorie Bowman, Eva Gonzales, Edna Fredrick and her former daughter-in-law, Angela Higdon Vincent.

Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM Brother Chad Bolfa will give words of comfort at 6:30 PM followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 8:00 AM until service time.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John Snyder, Tyler Snyder, Carter Snyder, Deven Carriere, Colby Carriere, E.J. McBride, Trace McBride and Hunter Gerace.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Shenella Laws, Chrissy Guidry, Shirley Dupont, Bonnie Cobb as well as Grace Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Gary Blanchard.
