Tyrone Richard, Sr.

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Tyrone Jude "Ty" Richard, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Father Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ty was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas who was currently residing in Baton Rouge. He passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge at the age of 79. He was retired from the construction industry after working several years as a supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Collins Richard of Baton Rouge; two sons, Brian Keith Richard and wife, Windy of Denham Springs; and Tyrone Jude Richard, Jr. and wife, Angelle of Baton Rouge; one brother, Bruce Richard and wife, Ellen of Lafayette; grandchildren, Chad Richard and wife, Ashley of Baton Rouge; Sadie Kistler and husband, Zach of Illinois; and Shawn Hennings and wife, Sandra of Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Jaykeb, Blain, Alyssa, Sophie, Parker Jude, Ellison, Ryker, and Hadley.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Odile Richard; his parents, J.U. Richard and Mamie L. Richard; stepmother, Hazel Richard; his son, Glen Richard; and one grandson, Mitch Richard.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in funeral home by Deacon Bill Pollingue.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Richard, Robert Richard, Chad Richard, Jared Leibee, Tim Collins, and Ricky Collins.
