Krotz Springs A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tony Collette, age 89, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, La. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery with Reverend Robert Courville and Reverend Chanh Van Nguyen as Celebrants.

We are saddened by the death of our beloved father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, Tony Collette, a resident of Krotz Springs, La., died on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the Point Coupee Healthcare Nursing Home in New Roads, La.

Tony served 48 years as alderman for the Town of Krotz Springs. He also served on the Council on Aging for St. Landry Parish.

During WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Army and with the 134th Infantry Regiment of the 35th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operation. During the winter of 19441945 in Southern Belgium, he took part in the Battle of the Bulge earning his Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medal.
Survivors include his daughter, Betty Thibodeaux, and husband, C.J. whom he loved like a son, of Fordoche, La. his sisters, Frances Hagan and husband, Bob, of Goddard, Kansas Rosalie Torina and husband, C.J., from Woodside, La. and his special friend, Virginia Warden, of Krotz Springs, La. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Marsha Day and husband, Bill, of Florence, Oregon Thomas Tommy Savage and wife, Lisley, of St. Francisville, La. Bridget Williams and husband, Britt, of Centerville, Mississippi Traci Gillum and husband, Mark, of Prattville, Alabama and Toni Bueche and husband, Vaughn, of Jarreau, La. He is also survived by seventeen greatgrandchildren, Camila and Marsha Ann Savage Micah, Jude, Jeremiah, Jordan, Grace, Bethany, Joshua, Elisha and Luke Williams Erica and Rebekah Gillum Matthew Thibodeaux and Thomas and Dalton Bueche. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Leblanc Collette his parents, Sam and Tina Collette his stepmother, Virginia Collette his daughter, Charlotte Grandstaff and his greatgrandson, Benjamin Williams.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs, beginning on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
