Thomas Doucet

Opelousas - Funeral services for Thomas Doucet will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will conduct the service.  Burial will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. in Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Mr. Doucet, age 70, a resident of Maurice, La., passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Thomas served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam.  He worked over 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Transportation until his retirement.  Thomas was a faithful and devout Catholic.  He was an altar boy, beginning at the age of four, at the Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Whiteville, La.  He loved woodworking as a hobby.  Thomas will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Fontenot Doucet; his daughters, Chanda Marie Doucet Molinere and husband, Corey; Kristy Doucet Touchet and husband, Derek; his brothers, Jessie Doucet and wife, Lova and Paul Doucet. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Adalynn Touchet and Harper Touchet and Fakesha Landry Pringle who was like a daughter to Thomas.

He was preceded in death by parents, Leonce and Celeze Mire Doucet.

Pallbearers will be Corey Molinere, Jimmy Janise, Hubert Vidrine and Derek Touchet.  Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Jessie and Paul Doucet.
