Thomas Cahanin

Opelousas Service for Thomas L. Cahanin, age 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on, Friday, June 10, 2011 in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the service.

Mr. Cahanin, who was a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, La.

Thomas was employed by Diesi Motors and worked as an auto mechanic for 48 years and retired as the service manager. Also, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Tina Byrom and husband, Tommy, of Opelousas, La. Mary Ann Richard and husband, Robert, of Carencro, La. 6 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Bellow Cahanin 2 daughters, Elizabeth Fisette Arleen Bellard and his parents, Jules and Alma Ryder Cahanin.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, June 10, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
