Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Iolia Gay Marks at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Msgr. Russell Harrington will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas, LA.

Iolia, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, LA.  She was a homemaker and took pride in caring for and tending to the needs of her family.  She loved eating out at restaurants with her family, watching the Saints Football games, volunteering at the nursing home and spending time with the elderly.  She was a longtime parishioner at St. Landry Catholic Church.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by one son, Lucas Marks and wife, Polly of Ville Platte; two daughters, Bridget Thibodeaux of Opelousas; and Melissa Daniel and husband, Paul of Welsh; brother, Roland Gay of Opelousas; and sister, Gloria Olivier and husband, Gilbert of Opelousas; eight grandchildren: Shellie Compton and husband, Roby; Beau Daniel, Ally Marks, Alexis Faucheux and husband, Perry; Ashley Thibodeaux, Marty Santoro and wife, Hanna; Michael Santoro and wife, Danielle; and Matthew Santoro; eight great-grandchildren: Marshall Compton, Blake Compton, Brayden Perron, Jaidyn Santoro, Eli Santoro, Annelise Santoro, Harper Kate Santoro, and Jack Santoro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Joseph “T-Marks” Marks; her parents, Adam Gay, Jr. and Violia Leleau Gay; sister, Marie G. Devillier; and brother, Joseph U. Gay.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 AM.

Pallbearers will be Beau Daniel, Hank Miller, Perry Faucheux, Roby Compton, Matthew Santoro, Michael Santoro, and Marty Santoro.
