Opelousas

Opelousas, Louisiana - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Sue Kirkpatrick, a remarkable woman whose presence illuminated the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Sue departed this world on July 6, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever be treasured.

Sue’s nurturing spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of countless individuals. It was no surprise that her passion for caring led her to nursing. At the peak of her career, Sue served as the Director of Nursing at Opelousas General Hospital. Her colleagues revered her for her expertise, empathy, and the exceptional level of devotion she demonstrated toward her profession. She not only healed bodies but also uplifted spirits, leaving an enduring impression on both her colleagues and patients alike.

Sue’s Catholic beliefs were at the core of her being, serving as a guiding light in her life. Her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will forever be engraved in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she touched. Although her departure leaves a void, we find solace in knowing that Sue is now whole and healed in the loving embrace of the Lord.

Sue is survived by her children Trish, Terri, and Kris Kirkpatrick; grandchildren Krisi Carriere-Moran and husband Ricky, Johnny Carriere Jr. and wife Kelli, Derrick Carriere Sr. and wife Kristi, Angelique Midkiff, Aleisha Midkiff, Jordyn Kirkpatrick and Landon Kirkpatrick; great-grandchildren Carsyn and wife Brittany, Connolly, Carlyle, Derrick II, Eli, Johnny III, Sebastian, Adelynn, Caroline, Ayden, Lincoln, Ayva, Drew, and Wiley; sister-in-law Mary Frances Richard; nephew Briar Richard and family, Allison, Coen and Drew; sister-in-law Etta Oberhoff and family; aunt Joycelyn Soileau; and cousin Gloria Devalcourt.
