Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa Pitre Dupre will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA.  Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.  Fr. Ben Pitre will celebrate the Mass.

Ms. Theresa, age 92, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA, surrounded by her loving family.

Theresa enjoyed many aspects in her life, some of her biggest achievements were owning Joe's Sandwich Shop in Opelousas, LA, for many years, and her dedication to Kroger's as a manager for twenty-five years. She enjoyed playing Bouree, Pokeno, and many other card games. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren which she held very dear to her.

She is survived by her sons, Shearon Dupre and his wife Shirley Hollier Dupre of Opelousas;  and Danny Dupre and his wife Cindy Bihm Dupre of Baton Rouge; her daughters Janice Fontenot and her fiance David Kidder of Arnaudville; Gwen Brandon of Canyon Lake, TX; and Vicky LeLeux and husband Jerry LeLeux of Sunset; her twelve grandchildren Brooke Godeaux, Kristi Fredieu, Dana Mouret, Stacie Fontenot, Erica Fontenot, Hannah Rowlings, Sophie Roberts, Emma Brandon, Desmond Dupre, Aaron Dupre, Camille Dupre, and Nicole Brown; her thirteen great grandchildren, Olivia, Caroline, Amelia, Emmy, Evelynn, Amelia, Chloe, Maya, Ava, Stella, Nora, Landon, Kirsten, and Cole; and her sisters-in-law Emma Speyer of Washington, Charlene Carter of Alexandria, and Marlene Sonnier of Dupont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Seldon Dupre. Her parents Odeah and Hermina Pitre, her brothers Nolan, Clyde, and Sonny Pitre. Her sisters Celeste Latiolais, Ena Vige and Pauline Pitre. Her father-in-law Freddie Dupre, her mother-in-law Elna Fontenot Dupre, and her son-in-law Gene Brandon and sister-in-law Anna Lafleur.

Pallbearers will include Jerry LeLeux, Benny Pitre, Roderick Latiolais, Desmond Dupre, Joshua Godeaux and Joshua Fredieu.

Honorary pallbearers will be her sons, Shearon Dupre and Danny Dupre.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel of Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.  A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.  On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
