Terry Darby

OpelousasService for Terry Poppa Joseph Darby, age 68, will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Rev. Austin Leger will conduct the services.

Mr. Darby, a native and resident of Opelousas, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Darby was retired and also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his sons, Mitchell Wayne Darby and his wife, Janel, of Arnaudville, La.; Terry T. Darby and his wife, Jamie, of North Carolina and his daughter, Vicky Lynn Darby of Church Point, La. He is also survived by his brothers, Russel Darby and Darrel Darby both of Plaucheville, La.; Jimmy Darby of Opelousas, La.; Willie Cropper of Seattle, Washington and his sisters, Ethel Hidalgo of California and Melba Roebuck of New Orleans, La. He was also survived by ten grandchildren.

Mr. Darby was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Darby and Ella Mae Devillier Darby and two brothers, T-Joe Cropper and Wilson Darby.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
