Sybil Berzas

Opelousas A Memorial Service will be held in the St. Landry Catholic Church on Saturday, October 26, 2013, for Sybil Fontenot Berzas with visitation being held from 12:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. and the Memorial Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Very Reverend Monsignor Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Berzas was a native of Opelousas, LA and a resident of Olive Branch, MS. She was born on February 3, 1936 to Annie and Fabious Fontenot in Mamou, LA. Sybil was 77 years old and died on July 1, 2013 at Holly Springs Health and Rehab in Holly Springs, MS. She was retired from Anthonys Department Store. She was a long time parishioner of St. Landry Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court 119.

Survivors include her two sons, Chris Molly Berzas of Opelousas, LA, Myron Trudy Berzas of Port Barre, LA one daughter, Judy Brett Fontenot of Olive Branch, MS one sister, Joyce Miller of Lafayette, LA two sisterinlaws, Jane Bourgeois of Carencro, LA and Novella Fontenot of Ville Platte, LA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Berzas her parents, Annie and Fabious Fontenot two brothers, Julius and Murray Fontenot a baby sister and two grandchildren, Neil Bryant Berzas, and Blair Martin Fontenot.
