Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Susan Melancon McClelland, age 55, on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church followed by interment in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Monsignor Paul Metrejean will conduct the services.

Mrs. McClelland, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La.

She was employed by Als Thrifty Way of Opelousas. She enjoyed the simple things in life, such as the outdoors, fishing, camping and being with her family. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ben McClelland, of Opelousas, La. her daughters, Angie McClelland of Lafayette, La. Ashley McClelland of Opelousas, La. her father, Tillman Melancon of Opelousas, La. and her brothers, Jimmy Melancon and Mike Melancon both of Opelousas, La.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Moore Melancon her maternal grandparents, James and Alice Moore and her paternal grandparents, Clifford and Adele Melancon.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
