Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Susan "Sue" Marie Darby, age 59, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Monsignor Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Darby, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Friday, July 15, 2016 at her residence.

Ms. Darby loved spending time outdoors camping and tending to her garden. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially drinking coffee with her mom and dad. She had a great love for animals and a special place in her heart for her dog, Buddy who passed away by her side. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her parents, Floyd and Ethel Daire Darby; her daughter, Jill Ventre Wilson and husband, John; her brothers, Jerry Darby and wife, Linda, Mitch Darby and wife, Jennifer; her sister, Cynthia Ortego and husband, Gary; her grandchildren, Ethan Richard and Samantha Wilson. She is also survived by her niece, Katie Ortego and her nephews, Travis Ortego, Nick Darby, and Lane Darby.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Derbes and Omerine Daire; her paternal grandparents, Felix and Selima Darby; her brother Floyd Luke Darby, Jr., her niece, Amie Ortego and her nephew Michael Luke Darby.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Deacon Ulysse Joubert at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until time of services.

Pallbearers will be, Jerry Darby, Mitch Darby, Gary Ortego, Travis Ortego, Nick Darby and Lane Darby.
