Steven Nezat, Sr.

Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Steven Craig Nezat, Sr., age 60, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Reverend Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place in the church cemetery.

Mr. Nezat, a resident of Port Barre, LA, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

Steven enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed dirt track racing, hunting and fishing. Steven will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lyndia Nezat; his son, Steven Nezat, Jr.; his daughter, Heather Nezat Hogue and husband, Matthew; his brother, Stanwood Nezat, Jr. and wife, Bobbie; his sisters, Melissa Stanford and husband, Craig and Michelle Pitre and husband, Keith. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, Tyler Hogue and Maci Hogue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanwood Joseph Nezat, Sr. and Vera Mae Basco Nezat.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed by Reverend Daniel Picard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
