Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Stanley Buller, Jr. at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Chapel of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Whiteville, LA. Rev. Fr. Donavan Labbe will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.Visitation will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00am. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Stanley Buller, Jr., age 80, on Saturday, April 17, at his residence in Whiteville surrounded by his family. Stanley grew up in Garland, Louisiana. He had a passion for farming and hunting. After graduating from Washington High School at the age of 17, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a signal corpsman until his discharge. He then attended University of Southwestern Louisiana but entered the work-force before graduating. First working in the oilfield, then when his father cut off his hand in a Cotton Gin accident, Stanley left the oilfield to work with his dad. After many years of farming, Stanley started his insurance career in 1983. In 1986, he opened his own insurance agency, Buller’s Crop Insurance. Stanley received the sales recognition award for outstanding achievement in crop insurance numerous years. He was also acknowledged for his 29 years of service to the Garland-Whiteville Water System. Stanley was known for always going above and beyond for his family, community and farmers. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Matt Buller; sons, Michael Dwain Buller, Stanley Joseph (Toni) Buller and Stephen Lloyd (Katie) Buller; daughters, Anita Hope Buller (David Clause), Danielle (Kevin) Shipp and Jenny Buller; grandchildren, Sammy (Gabby) Buller, Ross Buller, Faith Buller, Noah Buller, Sydney Buller (Jacob) Barnes, John Buller, Dawson Buller, Emma Buller, Grace Lejeune, Aidan Lejeune, Rhett Lejeune, Brant Lejeune, Seth Shipp, Lauren Shipp and Ellis Shipp; great-grandchildren, Jack Buller and Loretta Rose Buller; mother-in-law, Verlie Matt; brothers, Jerome "Tede" (Lennie) Buller and Michael "Tot" (Nicole) Buller; sisters, Loraine LeBanc and Wilda "Toggie" (Robert) Savoie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Stanley and Anita Savant Buller; father-in-law, Dewey Joseph Matt; sister, Daphne Simoneaux; grandson, Casey Buller; brothers-in-law, Harry Simoneaux, John LeBlanc and Greg Leger, Sr.; and nephew, Brandon Sweeney.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Sammy Buller, Ross Buller, Noah Buller, John Buller, Dawson Buller, Aidan Lejeune, Rhett Lejeune, Brant Lejeune, Seth Shipp and Ellis Shipp.
The Family would like to thank Opelousas General Health System and the special staff who all took such great care of our Pepop at every visit. Also to all the physicians and their staff that treated him so kindly and patiently. Special thanks to Opelousas Orthopaedic Clinic- Dr. David Clause and Dr. Porubsky. Also, Dr. Hunt DeBlanc. Dr. Raza. Dr. Valle. Dr. Owens. Dr. Ballanco. Dr. Sharkey. Dr. Constance Cole. Dr. Krawczyk. Dr. Scott Boagni. Dr. Jason Trahan. Dr. Jason Fontenot. And Dr. Gros. Over the last 4 months with each and every visit the Drs. And staff always showed such kindness and compassion.
A special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care. Nurse Donnie, Aide Abbie, and nurse Christine. We could not have asked for better care and compassion for our father.
We would also like to thank Pepop’s very special, personal nurse, Sydney Buller Barnes. He and Memaw were very grateful for her countless hours. And all of their grandchildren who would take time to fill in for Memaw to run errands and attend mass. Pepop was definitely blessed to have so many who loved him.
