Simon Soileau

- Funeral services for Mr. Simon S.V. Voorhies Soileau, age 93, will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Msgr. Robert Romero will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mr. Soileau died at Senior Village Nursing Home on Monday, February 11, 2008. He was a resident of Opelousas. Mr. Soileau was an auto mechanic until retiring at the age of 82.

He is survived by his brother, Akman Soileau of Nuba. He is also survived by his sons, James Larry Soileau and wife, Cheryl, of Milton, Creighton S. Soileau and wife, Sharon, of Opelousas and John V. Soileau and wife, Sandra, of Lafayette. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Gertrude J. Soileau, and his parents, Feroil and Annie Thibodeau Soileau.

The family has requested that visitation be observed at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
