It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Montgomery on Sunday May 15, 2022.

She was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She graduated from Opelousas Senior High School. She was a nurse at Opelousas General Hospital for many years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her two sons: Chadwick F. Montgomery and Michelle, Russell Montgomery IV and wife, Patricia. One daughter, Patricia Fisher and husband, Dave. Three grandchildren: Russell Montgomery V, Nicholas Fisher and Cici Bourque.

She was preceded in death by her husband R.L. Montgomery III, an infant son Robert Paul Montgomery, her parents Artheus Leger Jr and Elmire Lalonde Leger. Four sisters, Mary Helen Stelly, Ethel Theall, Hazel Miller, and Pat Hilda Wade and one brother Raphael Doucet Jr.

Pallbearers include Chadwick Montgomery, Rusty Montgomery, Russell Montgomery V, Dave Fisher and Nicholas Fisher.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.
