Shirley Carrier

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Shirley Powers Carrier at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, in the Skip Montet Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Thursday until the time of service at 1:30 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM. Reverend James Brady will conduct the service. Burial will be held at the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Carrier, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, with her children by her side. Shirley is at peace now after battling ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease for 3 years.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Monette Carrier Clay and husband, Kent Clay, of Opelousas, LA; her son, Kevin Marc Carrier and wife Stacey Faul Carrier of Opelousas, LA; her brother, Ronald "Pajoe" Powers and her brother-in-law, Edmond Pavy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paige Clay; Drake, Cole and Amelia Carrier and one great-grandchild, Ainsley Grace Clay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Totsy" Carrier and her parents, Eddie Powers, Jr. and Catherine Iris Myers Powers and her sister, Bonnie P. Pavy.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Carrier, Drake Carrier, Cole Carrier, Kent Clay, Ronald "Pajoe" Powers and Cody Stanford.

The family would like to thank her hospice nurses Debbie, Chasity, Kimy and Stephanie. They would also like to thank Reverend James Brady for his weekly visits with Shirley.
