Sherrell Fontenot

Opelousas Funeral services for Sherrell Wayne Fontenot, age 69, will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Parlor with Reverend Perry Hubbs. Andrew Meyers will deliver the eulogy. Burial will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. in the St. Ann Church Cemetery in Mamou, LA.

Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Lafayette, La., died on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Fontenot served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Sherrell was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved L.S.U. sports, hunting, fishing, tennis and golf. The career he loved began at St. Landry Homestead on February 2, 1981 until present day. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Rosie Fontenot, of Lafayette, LA his sister, Priscilline LeJeune and husband, Bobby, of Beaumont, Texas his Aunt Pearl and Uncle Weston Deshotels of Mamou, LA his daughters, Dana Fontenot and husband, Jeff, of Lafayette, LA Heather Thibodeaux and husband, Kevin, of Lafayette, LA his stepfather, George LeBeau, of Beaumont, Texas his stepson, Jim Roy, of New Orleans, LA his stepdaughter, Ashley Pitre and husband, Colby, of Lafayette, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Hunter Thibodeaux, Lacie Thibodeaux, Julia Fontenot, Ramni Manuel Roy, Orion Manuel Roy, Casey Smith, Molly Smith and Bailey Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eual D. and Camy Augustine LeBeau Fontenot and his brother, Michael Keith Fontenot.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, November 9, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 5:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. for burial.
