Sherlene Lavergne

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Sherlene Sonnier Lavergne at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2020, in the Julius J. "Skip" Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardon Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service.  Burial will follow in the Bertrand Family Cemetery in Prairie Ronde, LA.

Mrs. Lavergne, age 84, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at her residence.

Sherlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  Her family was her whole world.  She enjoyed listening to French music, crocheting and spending time with her loved ones.  Sherlene will be remembered and missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Lavergne, Larry Lavergne and wife, Debra; her brother, Irby Sonnier and wife, Lou.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amber Lavergne, Tiffany Basco, Kevin Lavergne, Travis Lavergne, Tasha Lavergne, Michelle Lavergne, Christopher Woolvertone and wife, Victoria; several great-grandchildren; her nieces, Jackie, Angie, Sheila and Denise Sonnier and her sister-in-law, Aunt Ruth.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jeas Lavergne "Frenchy"; her mother, Lionez Sonnier; her father, Eugene Sonnier; her daughter, Delores Ann Collura; her brother, Gilbert Sonnier and her grandson, Jesse Lavergne.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the Julius J. "Skip" Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Visitation will continue Friday, February 14, 2020 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  A Rosary will be prayed Friday morning at 11:30 AM in the funeral home.
