Seymour Barker

Funeral services will be held for Seymour Joseph (Joe) Barker at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery in Melville. Reverend W.R. Johnson, Sr. and Reverend Ronnie Barker will co-conduct the funeral service.

Mr. Barker, age 74, a resident of Texarkana, TX and a native of Baton Rouge, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette Booty Barker; his son, Jeffery Clark Barker; his step daughter, Tonya Bankston Johnson; his grandchildren, Monica Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Cassidy Barker, Whitney Barker and Jay Barker; his great-grandchildren Gabrielle Bruno and Kennedi Babin and his three sisters, Irma Schexnayder, Aime Arabie and Yvonne Lanier.

He was preceded in death by his parents Seymour J. Barker, Sr. and Hazel P Barker; his son, Joseph Paul Barker and his sister Wilma Schexnayder.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services.
