Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Sandra Leblanc Artigue, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, Louisiana. Father Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Port Barre, Louisiana. The vocalist for the Funeral Mass will be Kenneth Wyatt and the reader will be Ramona Lalonde. 

A visitation for Sandra will be held in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, December 2, 2024, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening by Michael and Betty Wheaton. Visitation will continue Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. 

Sandra Leblanc Artigue was born on November 21, 1943, in Church Point, Louisiana. She led an exciting life. She was known for her sassy spirit and adventurous nature. Sandra loved nothing more than traveling the world. Her passion took her to various destinations, allowing her to experience the beauty and diversity of cultures and landscapes around the globe. Sandra’s vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She will lovingly be remembered by her children, Vanessa Artigue Deville (Kenny), Justin Artigue (Stacey) and Jeremy Artigue (Lisa); her grandchildren, Janice Artigue, Christopher Artigue, Ryan Artigue and Lauren Deville; her great-grandchild, Baehn Ledoux; and her daughter-in-law, Paula Artigue. The family would like to send a special thank you to Sandra’s caregiver and “adopted” daughter, Merdine Zachary.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Louis Artigue, Jr.; their eldest son, Oliver Dean Artigue; her mother, Ethel Ryder Leblanc (Sylvester); her father, Oliver Dean Leblanc; her stepfather, Hillred “Hicks” Sylvester and her brothers, Edmond Preston L. Metrejon and Willie Lee Metrejon.

The pallbearers will be Justin Artigue, Randy Lalonde, Steven McCormick, Kenny Deville, Mark Guidroz and Donald Metrejon. The honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Artigue.

Sandra will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her generous spirit. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
