Ruth Hooks Cabral

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Ruth Hooks Cabral, of Krotz Springs, LA, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was 93 years old and was born in Opelousas, LA in the month of August of 1929.

Ruth is survived by her children, Steve Cabral, Wanda Chitty, Claudia Murillo and H.L. Cabral.
She is also loved and remembered by her many grandchildren, Lucretia “Star” Molegraaf, Lee Evans, Denee Fortner, Janel Chitty, Nicole Chitty and Nikki Nealy.

Ruth also had many great-grandchildren who loved her and will miss her, Kylie, Zac, Ryland, Caleb, Tinslee, Calvin, Hayden, Harper, Chase, Faith, Landon and Khloe.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Hill Cabral, her parents, Charles Hooks and Ida Reed Hooks, her sisters, Lessie, Iola and Mamie, her brothers, Charles Jr, Ira, Willie and John.

Ruth was an intelligent woman and a natural caregiver. She was an amazing cook and known for her smothered steak, white beans and homemade fudge. One of her own favorites was crawfish. 

Ruth traveled extensively with her husband wherever his work demanded and loved learning the cultures of other countries. One of her favorite places was Greece due to its biblical history and culture. She loved reading and meeting new people. Most of all she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and love her.

The Cabral family would like to extend a special thank you to Kittie Hooks for the amazing care she gave Ruth over the years.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs LA, on Thursday April 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm thru 8:00 pm and also on Friday, April 14, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held at First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Reverend Rocky Warden will conduct the services.  The First Baptist Church is located at 740 Front Street, Krotz Springs, LA 70750.
