Russell Lacombe

Opelousas Funeral services for Russell John LaCombe, age 64, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Roy Baker.

Mr. LaCombe, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at his residence.

Russell was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World, Alcoholic Anonymous and the St. Landry Parish Sheriffs Auxiliary. He was a corrections officer with the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola and also worked assisting and counseling inmates. He served his country in the U.S. Army. While in the service, he was stationed in Korea as a military policeman. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughters, Brooks LaCombe Davis of Opelousas, La. Natalie Marie LaCombe of Opelousas, La. his brother, Wallace Norma LaCombe of Baton Rouge, La. his sisters, Rita Johnny Viator of Duson, La. Gloria Stelly of Port Barre, La. Audrey Kenneth Cummings of Opelousas, La. Linda Karl McCormick of Carencro, La. and JoAnn Leo Franchebois of Opelousas, La. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and his beloved furry friend, Bentley Jude LaCombe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Dalmadel Richard LaCombe and his brothers, James Jim Harold LaCombe, Sr. and Walter Lee Cap LaCombe.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
