Roy Gray

Roy Franklin Gray passed away peacefully at home in Opelousas on December 16, 2010 at the age of 80.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Roby Stephenson Gray and two daughters Kay, wife of Herman J. Shushan of New Orleans and Paula Heard, wife of Robert S. Higginbotham of Lafayette. One of eleven children, born to Frank and Ellen Gray of Lucas County, Iowa, and survived by four sisters and one brother in Iowa.

As a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer, he continued his quest for knowledge graduating with honors from USL. Roy worked at Petroleum Helicopter and HeliAir, mentoring many in his love of aviation and life.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1:00 p.m.
