A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Roselyn Lavergne Soileau at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. Father Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Musical selections provided by Valerie Andrus, Amanda Parler and Nathan Allen.
Roselyn L. Soileau, age 88, who was born in Bellevue, LA and a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Monday, October 5, 2015 at her daughter's residence in Conroe, TX.
Mrs. Soileau was a lovely lady who cared for and assisted the Veterans of St. Landry Parish for over 35 years at the Veterans Affairs office in Opelousas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and Granny and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She enjoyed researching our family's genealogy, loved music, was an avid reader, a talented artist, and a gifted cook. She was a gentle, godly woman who loved her family but most of all loved God with all her heart.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Soileau and wife Phylis of Grand Coteau, LA; daughter, Jeannine Soileau Allen and husband Pat of Conroe, TX; brothers, Carrol Lavergne and Kenneth Lavergne, both of Bellevue, LA; sisters, Irma Quirk of Opelousas, LA and Elizabeth Crump of LaPlace, LA; grandchildren, Kris McCoy and wife Joslyn, Amanda Parler and husband Brad, Emily Cox and husband Brian, Joel Allen, and Nathan Allen, great grandchildren, Ethan McCoy, Reagan McCoy, Grayson McCoy, Celeste Parler, Ben Parler, Alissa Parler, and Evangeline Parler.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard Soileau; her parents, Joseph and Louise Sibille Lavergne; her brothers, Ferdie, Gerald, Leander Joseph (L.J.), Bernard and Eugene Lavergne; and sister, Lillian Barry.
Pallbearers will be Kris McCoy, Joel Allen, Scott Sonnier, John Sonnier, Fred Lavergne and Brian Cox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nathan Allen, Carrol Lavergne and Kenneth Lavergne.
The family would like to give special thanks to all of our caregivers - "Miss Pat" Davis, who entered Mom's life as a caregiver, became her best friend, and brought great joy to her life; Janice Gailes, Paula Jean Trahan, Debbie Parler, Bettie Nowak, Nichole Creasey, Jeri Sherrod, Laura Shelby, and Heart to Heart Hospice.

The family has requested the visitation be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 4 pm to 9 pm and will reopen on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 8 am until the time of service. Deacon Sammy Diesi will lead a rosary on Sunday October 11, 2015 at 6 pm.
