OPELOUSAS A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Marion Ryder, the former Rose Phillips, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend James Brady will conduct the mass.

Mrs. Ryder, age 91, who was a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:40 p.m. at Opelousas General Health System after a brief illness.

Rose worked at American Department Store and then Anthonys Department Store as a bookkeeper and cashier. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, David Ryder and wife, Bobbie, of Opelousas, La. Dale Ryder and wife, Sandra, of Arnaudville, La. and her daughter, Linda R. Sonnier and husband, Paul, of Lafayette, La. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 36 greatgrandchildren and 8 greatgreat grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion David Ryder her daughter, Jo Ann Ryder Burleigh her grandson, Matthew Ryder and her parents, Albert and Elodie Soileau Phillips.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
