Rose Marks

Opelousas - Funeral services for Rose Mary Stelly Marks will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.  Father Darren Eldridge will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel.  A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Marks, Rickey Marks, Edward Marks, Ben Marks, Lance Barron, Keith Marks and Colton Marks.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rose Mary Stelly Marks, age 87, on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for her family.  She was a devout Catholic and was faithful in praying her rosary.  She also loved playing Bouree and Monopoly with her children when they were younger.  Rose helped her husband with his truck stop business for many years.  Rose will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Marks and wife, Sandra of Opelousas; Stephen Marks of Port Barre; Keith Marks and wife, Beth of Opelousas; Rickey Marks of New Iberia; and Bruce Marks and wife, Connie of Arnaudville; and her sister, Ann Stelly Barron of Port Barre.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lee Marks; her parents, Edward Stelly and Deneige Lanclos Stelly; her daughter, Marilyn Marks; and her brothers, Edward Stelly and Sidney Stelly.
