Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Mae Richard will be held today, Friday, August 17, 2007 at 1:00PM at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Chapel in Opelousas. A graveside service will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Louis Melancon will conduct the services.

Mrs. Rosa, age 84, a long rime resident of Baton Rouge, died on August 16, 2007 at Oschner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was born in Grand Prairie La.

The family would like to express their gratitude to a very special son-in-law Danny Harrell and a special daughter-in-law Pam Pourciau for all the love and compassion they gave our mother over the years. We would also like to thank Louis and Vallamae Stephens for their loyal friendship throughout the years. Rose shared her life and love with many friends and family that will miss her dearly. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gatherings with her large and extended family. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness and good cooking.

Mrs. Richard is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, B.C. Laddie Richard and children; Debbie Harrell and her husband Danny of Baton Rouge, La., Gloria Williams and her husband Teddy of Clinton. La., Faye Bennett and her husband Larry of Zachary La., sons; Glenn Richard of Winfield, La., Randy Pourciau and his wife Pam of Walker La., and Jay Richard and his wife Patricia of Zachary La. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Milton and Georgiana Smith Richard, 2 sisters; Annabelle Doucet and Myrtle Jane Bergeron, 1 brother; Gilbert Smith, her son; Ronnie Richard and 3 grandchildren; Shane Williams, Margaret Sissy Richard and Timmy Williams.

In loving memory of her children: OVER THE HILL AND AROUND THE CURVE, HERE COMES OPELOUSAS.

Loved ones and friends paid their respects on Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM and they will continue today, Friday from 10:00AM until time of service. A rosary was recited on Thursday at 7PM.
