Ronald "Ronnie" James Dupre passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, with his wife by his side, in his hometown of Opelousas, Louisiana. He was born on November 14, 1954, in Opelousas to Floyce and Gloria Dupre.
Ronnie will forever be remembered for his kind and caring nature. He had a deep love for his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Gail Guillory Dupre, and dedicated himself to taking care of her. His devotion and commitment to their marriage were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Music was one of Ronnie's greatest passions in life. He found solace in playing the guitar and would often spend hours strumming melodies that touched the hearts of those around him. In addition to his musical talents, Ronald also enjoyed building model airplanes, an activity that allowed him to exercise his creativity and attention to detail.
A man with diverse interests, Ronnie took great pleasure in watching westerns and playing games on his phone. He was always up for a challenge and loved the thrill of competition.
Ronnie's culinary skills were legendary among his family and friends. Everyone eagerly anticipated his secret recipe for rice dressing—a dish he prepared with love and mastery. His cooking brought people together and created lasting memories filled with laughter and joy.
Ronnie and Bonnie also enjoyed numerous camping trips. Their favorite spot was Chico State Park. Being surrounded by nature gave them such joy and amazing memories to cherish forever.
Ronnie's dedication to his faith was unwavering. He found strength and solace in his Lord and Savior, Jesus, throughout his life journey. His faith served as a guiding light as he navigated both joyful moments and challenging times.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Bonnie Gail Dupre; his his sister, Cynthia Dupre Kovacs; his grandchildren, Sierra Nicole Dupre, Ashley Annagail Smith (Triston), Caitlin Meredith Jones (companion, Zack Luskk), and Lacey Gail Dupre; his great-grandchildren, Lilly Pippin, Aubrey Luskk, Theodore Smith and Xavier Dupre; his godchildren, Michelle Renee Dupre Meche, Angela Renee Everitt, and Gina Lanay Baham; his sisters-in-law ,Marion Ray Darby and Susanne G. Pitre, who he treated as if they were his own sisters; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other dear family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyce and Gloria Robin Dupre; his son, Guy Christopher Dupre; his daughter, Stephanie Marie Dupre Jones; and his brother, David Wayne Dupre.
A Visitation will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Eulogy being said at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 5th from 8:00 AM to 11:00AM. A Funeral Service will follow in the Skip Montet Chapel. Ronnie will be laid to rest at Bellevue Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Azie Nguyen, J.R. Day, Derrall Pitre, Bobby Charles Guillory, Chad Baham and Jason Guillory.
The family would like to give a special thank you to those who came while Ronnie was in the hospital to comfort and visit with Mrs. Bonnie.
Ronald James Dupre leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire all those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
