Opelousas - Funeral services for Roland Gene Vasseur, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rev. Greg Gaspard will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Bertrand Family Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.

Roland, age 31, was a resident of Church Point. He passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his home. He loved to watch football and all sports. He was a past member of the National Guard for 8 years. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Roland Gene Vasseur, Sr. and Deidra Hebert Vasseur of Church Point; brother, Kirby Vasseur of Church Point; sister, Valene Vasseur and fiancé, Charles Gants of Church Point; niece, Amayah Gants of Church Point; maternal grandmother, Sadie Hebert of Crowley; and paternal grandfather, Leo Vasseur.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Steve Hebert and his paternal grandmother, Versey Vasseur.

Pallbearers will be Kirby Vasseur, Dennis Vasseur, Nick Pommier, Tony Vasseur, Michael Dugas, Jeremy Blair, and Paul Vasseur.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.
