Opelousas - A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 for Rodney "Jay" Jason Lafleur in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Elder Lee Synder will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

Rodney "Jay" Jason Lafleur, age 38 and a resident of Sunset, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017.

Jason loved electronics, music and reading the Bible. When he was younger he enjoyed spending time with his grandparents. He helped them in their garden and, as a result, he developed a love for vegetables; later he became a vegetarian. He also loved spending time with his nephews, nieces and cousins. He had a big heart and shared generously with all. He had a smile on his face most of the time. Also, he shared a smile with those who met him, just as his daddy did. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Glenda Kay Gary and Richard Gary; sisters, Jamie Lafleur, Christine Lafleur Dorsey, Tammy Richard and husband, Vincent Coy Richard and Casey Hardy and husband, Dennis Hardy; nephews, Jacob Lafleur, Christopher Richard, Caleb Nicholas, Benjamin Richard and Dallas Dorsey; and nieces, Ashlyn Richard and Cierra Richard. He enjoyed visiting with his Uncle Ricky Lafleur and Aunt Monica. He loved all of his uncles, Mike Lafleur, Ricky Lafleur and Gary Lafleur and aunts, Monica Lafleur, Debbie Blackshear and Darlene Robin. He is also survived by many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving father, Rodney Joseph Lafleur; maternal grandparents, Margaret and Lionel Babineaux; paternal grandparents, Leta and Pat Blackshear and Rodney Joseph Lafleur, Sr.; uncles, Dale Lafleur and Keith Robin; and aunt, Melanie Lafleur.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Lafleur, Benjamin Richard, Christopher Richard, Eric Robin, Seth Robin and Caleb Nicholas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Vincent Coy Richard and Michael Shane Lafleur.
