Krotz Springs - Funeral services for Robert James Soileau, Sr. known to many as "Bob' will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in the First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs; visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Reverend Chad Bolfa will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
Robert, age 75, was a native of Melville and a longtime resident of Krotz Springs. He passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
He served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy where he worked as a ship fitter. He retired from the Valero plant after working many years as a pipefitter welder. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 1098. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and doing yardwork. He was a skilled craftsman who did woodworking, built canoes, and knife making. He cherished his time spent with his family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheila Perry Soileau of Krotz Springs; two sons, Robert J. "Bobby" Soileau, Jr. and wife, Julie of Krotz Springs; and Ray Howard Soileau of Krotz Springs; two daughters, Sondra Manuel and husband, Donald of Krotz Springs; and Sonja Whittington and husband, Eric of Port Barre; three brothers, Jerry Soileau of Slaughter; Gary Soileau of Krotz Springs; and Ronnie Savoie of Houston, TX; three sisters, Sandra Oquin of Bandera, TX; Brenda Foti of Breaux Bridge; and Ethel Williams of Krotz Springs; 8 grandchildren: D. J. Kimble, Cody Soileau, Jessica Soileau, Dane Manuel, Skylar Manuel, Keeley Ardoin, Brandon Soileau, Madison Ardoin; and 6 great-grandchildren: Lexie Kimble, Braxton Soileau, Clayton Soileau, Miley Kimble, Seth Williamson, and Izzy Kimble.
He was preceded in death by mother, Ruth Lemoine McCullen; his father, Howard Joseph Soileau; and stepmother, Betty Soileau.
Pallbearers will be Ray Howard Soileau, Robert J. "Bobby" Soileau, Jr., Dane Joseph Manuel, Donald Manuel, Eric Whittington, and Chris Kimble.
