It is with heavy hearts that the family of Velma Lanclos David, the former Rita Velma Lanclos, announce the death of their loved one on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA. The Reverend Michael DeBlanc will celebrate the Mass and Reverend Clint Trahan and Deacon Mitch Hebert will concelebrate. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
Above all, Velma was devoted to her Catholic faith. She prayed the Rosary daily and was an active volunteer at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Velma and her husband Johnny owned and operated Johnny's Cafe in Krotz Springs for 40 years. Mrs. David worked as a dispatcher for the Krotz Springs Police Department until her retirement at age 78. When she wasn't working, Velma enjoyed doing yardwork and caring for her plants. Her true love was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Mike David and Alyson of Opelousas; daughters, Melinda David LeBlanc of Port Barre and Johnny Marie "Boo Boo" David Soileau and her husband, Aubrey of Port Barre; brother, Joseph Bradley Lanclos and his wife, Mavis of Krotz Springs; sister, Mary Lou Brooks and her husband, Bobby of Krotz Springs; 15 grandchildren, Daniel David and wife, Nicky, Zachary David and wife, Jenn, Andrew David, Aaron David and wife, Jessica, Ali David, Chris David and wife, Kylie, Casey David, Kelly McCormick and husband, Shane, Drew LeBlanc and wife, Heidi, B.J. LeBlanc and wife, Stephanie, Travis Soileau and wife, Brandi, Liddy Henry, Matthew Soileau and wife, Megan, John Soileau and wife, Ashley and Katie Soileau. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband John "Johnny" Mack David; parents, Andre and Odette Rivette Lanclos; son, Robert David; son-in-law, Barry LeBlanc; brother, Howard Joseph Lanclos and wife, Nola and her grandson, Owen Henry.
Mrs. David's pallbearers will be Daniel David, Travis Soileau, Drew LeBlanc, Chris David, B.J. LeBlanc, Matthew Soileau, John Soileau, and Aaron David.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane McCormick, Samuel McCormick, Gabe McCormick, Brody LeBlanc, Tristin LeBlanc, Hunter Henry, Tyler Soileau, Samuel Soileau and Alijah Johnson.
The family will receive visitors between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs. Deacon Mitch Hebert will pray the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening and the funeral home will reopen on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. until service time.
