Rita Watkins

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita Pug Valin Watkins will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, in the St. Landry Catholic Church. The Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum.

Mrs. Watkins, age 79, a resident of Little Teche died on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System following a brief illness.

Survivors include her three brothers, Merlin Sos Valin and wife, Anna Lee Adam Pistol Valin and wife, Gail William Billy Valin her two sisters, Gwen Moonie Chachere and Faye Dupre and husband, Wayne. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Ronnie DAvy and her family, 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great and greatgreat nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and Rita St. Cyr Valin her brother, Carl Valin and her niece, Courtney Valin Rose.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Sunday, March 31, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
